Volunteer
Do you want to have fun and contribute to your community?Come join us at our next Center Project meeting. We are a group of individuals dedicated to establishing a LGBTQQA community center in Columbia, MO for the mid-Missouri area. We meet the third Thursday of every month from 7pm - 9pm at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 2615 Shepard Blvd. (Directions)
We also have specific committees that need help from volunteers:
Fundraising-Donors:
This committee is working to develop the donor program for TCP. Some of the activities that will be worked on include performing various forms of donor solicitation, creating media (handouts and web) to educate potential donors, and maintaining the TCP donor database. For information about this committee, email CarolS_tcp@hotmail.com.
Fundraising-Events:
This committee plans fundraising events for TCP. These events include carwashes, dog/cat treat sales, and special events such as the Atomic Dance Party and Raffle. New ideas for future fundraising events are discussed.
Grants: This committee works to research, write and submit grants that will support starting costs and fund programs provided by TCP.
Outreach/Education:
This committee seeks to educate the general community on TCP and its mission. They organize the TCP informational booth for events like the Twilight Festival, the Jefferson City Multicultural Festival, Earth Day, Pride Festival, and the Luna Fair. Other activities for this committee include participating in the Speakers Bureau, organizing coverage for attendance at community meetings with ally groups, and creating/maintaining the TCP Event Calendar webpage. For more information about this committee, email Julie_tcp@hotmail.com.
Volunteer Coordination:
This committee seeks to identify and coordinate people who want to volunteer for The Center Project, whether it involves staffing a table at an event, doing behind the scenes work such as making dog and cat treats, or volunteering on TCP committees. Activities for this group include recruiting volunteers, tracking volunteer hours, creating volunteer appreciation communications and events, and creating/maintaining a volunteer database.
Check out our activities webpage for committee meetings.
Think you don't have time for meetings? You can help us staff our booth at a community event. It's really easy and there will be an "old-timer" TCP person with you. If you don't want to volunteer publicly there is a lot of behind the scenes work that goes on. You can help make our mid-Missouri famous homemade dog and cat treats. We also need help with folding and cutting our brochures.
When you volunteer for TCP; whether it is staffing an event, working on brochures, or making dog and cat treats; please complete our Volunteer Log. This is an excel file you simply download, fill out, save to your computer and then email back to us as an attachment.
If you volunteer at several events we have a different volunteer form where you can list more than one event. This is also an excel file you simply download, fill out, save to your computer and then email back to us as an attachment. Having this information from our volunteers helps us tremendously when applying for grants!
